West Ham United have suffered a blow in their bid to sign Hans Vanaken from Club Brugge in the summer transfer window. According to , West Ham are interested in signing the 28-year-old attacking midfielder before the window closes next week and have made an offer of £13 million. However, Belgian club Brugge have turned it down and want a larger transfer fee for their club captain.
Vanaken has been on the books of Brugge since 2015 and has a contract with the Belgian club until 2024. The Belgium international has scored four goals and provided two assists in seven Jupiler Pro League games so far this season, according to .
