Wolves 0 Crystal Palace 2: Ayew and Milivojevic send Eagles soaring

Roy Hodgson s decision to recall Jordan Ayew paid dividends at Molineux on Wednesday as the striker scored in Crystal Palace s 2-0 win over Wolves.

Palace have struggled in front of goal this season and it looked a

s though they would fail to score in a Premier League game for the 10th time this season until Ayew lashed home his first goal for the club with seven minutes remaining.

Captain Luka Milivojevic doubled their tally in stoppage time to complete the victory after Wilfried Zaha had been felled by Ryan Bennett.

For Wolves it is back down to earth with a bump after their win over Tottenham on Saturday, Nuno Espirito Santo s side falling to a fifth home defeat of the campaign.

What a win!

Roma interested in Chiesa

According to a recent report from Corriere dello Sport, Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa is considered to be a target for fellow Italian side Roma. The 21 year old has been turning heads ever since he made his professional debut for Fiorentina back in 2016, and is also considered to be a rising star in the Italian national team’s setup. Roma, on the other hand, are currently on the verge of securing a place in the quarter finals of the Champions League.

Despite that there’s growing pressure on the club to find a new manager, which is an operation that could be carried out in the next few weeks. If it does then there’s a chance the links to Chiesa could disappear, but either way, it’s certainly an interesting story.

Chiesa has been tipped for greatness by many f…

Muller back for Germany as Saka keeps England place

Thomas Muller is back in the Germany starting XI for the Euro 2020 last-16 clash against England at Wembley, with Bukayo Saka retaining his place for the hosts.

Muller only featured from the bench when Joachim Low s side scraped a 2-2 draw against Hungary to emerge as runners-up in Group F as he nursed a knee injury.

But the Bayern Munich forward has been passed fit to start alongside wing-back Robin Gosens and defender Antonio Rudiger, both of whom had been struggling with cold symptoms.

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is involved after suffering a cranial bruise, but only on the bench as Leon Goretzka partners Toni Kroos in central midfield.

Berlusconi to return to Milan

Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi intends to regain full control of Serie A champions AC Milan.

Berlusconi first bought the club in 1986, staving off bankruptcy and overseeing an era of considerable success.

Now 75, Berlusconi stood down from his role as club president in 2008, when he began his third term as Italian PM.

He resigned from the Italian government earlier this month, with his priorities apparently returning to football.

I will take back AC Milan s presidency as soon as possible, Berlusconi said.

I am the president who has won the biggest number of titles in the world.

(Santiago) Bernabeu, who is second, behind me, won half of my titles.

Ange Postecoglou praises Son Heung-min for beating tiredness to net winner

Ange Postecoglou hailed the high standards of “tired” Tottenham captain Son Heung-min after his late goal earned a 2-1 home win over Luton.

Spurs were able to get their Champions League qualification hopes back on track with a comeback victory against Luton after the visitors took a third-minute lead through Tahith Chong.

Tottenham captain Son hit both posts during the first half before Brennan Johnson, a half-time introduction, created the leveller when his dangerous cross was smashed into his own net by Hatters defender Issa Kabore.

Johnson turned provider again in the 86th minute from Timo Werner’s cross when he teed up Son, who slotted home via a deflection off Daiki Hashioka to earn the hosts a vital three points.

It was Son’s 15th goal of th…

Juventus 1 Inter 1: Icardi ensures Derby d´Italia ends level

Mauro Icardi salvaged a spirited 1-1 draw for Roberto Mancini s Inter at Juventus in Tuesday s Derby d Italia.

Carlos Tevez had initially looked to once again be the scourge of his former Manchester City coach Mancini when putting Juve ahead in the fifth minute, but Icardi secured Inter a share of the spoils just after the hour mark.

Mancini famously fell out with Tevez on the touchline during a 2011-12 UEFA Champions League match against Bayern Munich, and the Argentinian looked particularly delighted to prod Juve into the lead early on.

Inter, who included new signing Lukas Podolski on the bench, saw plenty of the ball in the first half, but the hosts looked much the more likely before the interval, as Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba both went close.

Lekgwathi warms to Leal tactics

Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi says they have now adapted to manager Julio Leal s football philosophies.

Lekgwathi, who was a key part of Ruud Krol s treble Cup winning Pirates team of last season, says Leal s approach is vastly different from that of his predecessor.

Speaking to KickOff.com, the Pirates skipper also attributed the defending champion s slow start to the season to the team s inability to function as a single unit.

The two coaches (Leal and Krol) are very different. This is probably because one is Dutch while the other is Brazilian so their approaches are influenced by this, Lekgwathi said.

It took us quite a while to get used to the new coach s tactics and coaching philosophy. The fact that we also had some new players further …

Champions League place main objective for Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers knows he is within touching distance of his first main goal as Celtic manager ahead of the Champions League play-off second leg at Hapoel Be er Sheva.

The Scottish champions overcame a second-half wobble to close out a thrilling 5-2 victory in last week s initial encounter at Parkhead, taking a significant step towards a first appearance in the group stages of Europe s premier competition since 2013.

Rodgers was installed as Ronny Deila s successor in May and the former Liverpool boss has had his sights trained on progress to the Champions League proper ever since.

It has been our number one objective from the first day we started, he said.

We spoke about it as a team and a squad. We looked at various goals and targets throughout the se…

McCarthy replaces injured Forster in England squad

Alex McCarthy has replaced Fraser Forster in Sam Allardyce s first England squad after the latter withdrew as a fitness precaution.

Forster was one of three goalkeepers named in England s squad for Sunday s World Cup qualifying clash in Slovakia, the Southampton number one joined by Joe Hart and Tom Heaton.

However, the 28-year-old sustained an injury in the build-up to their trip to Trnava and has returned to Southampton to assess the extent of the issue.

Reports suggested an injured arm was behind Forster s withdrawal, but neither England or Southampton confirmed the nature of the problem.

McCarthy – Forster s team-mate at the Saints – takes his place in the 23-man squad, the second time he has been included in the national team.

His first …
