Berbatov calm about his future

(GSM) Dimitar Berbatov admits he fell short in his quest to find his best form for Manchester United this season. However, the Bulgaria striker insists he wants to stay at Old Trafford.

Berbatov joined United from Spurs in 2008 but has not been able to establish himself in United s first-team. But the striker is still keen to prove his worth and silence the critics.

People have not have seen the real Berbatov this season. I wish I could have done more.

At Spurs I scored more goals with less problems and now at United it is very difficult for me.

But I am calm about my future.

The rumours surrounding me don t affect me.

I have a deal and nobody has told me that I do not enter into plans for next season.

Kahn urges Bayern to get a world-class keeper

Former Bayern Munich goalkeeper and captain Oliver Kahn on Sunday advised his old club to recruit a world-class goalkeeper, as speculation grows Germany s Manuel Neuer is set to join.

A club like Bayern Munich should have a world-class goalkeeper, it makes the difference in a Champions League final, ex-Germany goalkeeper Kahn told German television channel Sport1.

Kahn played his last game for Bayern in May 2008, but the Bavarian giants have struggled to replace him since and his immediate replacement Michael Rensing was later released by the club.

Germany keeper Manuel Neuer has a contract at Schalke 04 until June 2012, but there is plenty of speculation in the German media he will switch to Bayern.

At the moment, veteran Joerg Butt, 36, is Bayern s fi…

Tevez: I did not fear the shoot-out

Argentina striker Carlos Tevez declared he had moved on from his missed penalty at the 2011 Copa America after converting the winning spot-kick against Colombia.

In a dramatic finale to Argentina s quarter-final in Vina del Mar, five penalty-takers failed to score before Tevez kept his cool to secure victory.

At the same stage four years ago, Tevez was the only Argentine to miss a penalty as Uruguay triumphed 5-4 in a shoot-out to eliminate the Copa America hosts.

That miss prompted Argentina coach Gerardo Martino to push the 31-year-old forward down his shoot-out order in the hope the new Boca Juniors signing would not be required, but Tevez insisted history was not on his mind when he faced off against Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina.

Pochettino jokes Levy is ´worried´ about losing him

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino joked chairman Daniel Levy was worried and concerned he could leave Spurs.

Pochettino has been linked to the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United after impressing since taking charge of Tottenham in May 2014.

The Argentinian is yet to claim a trophy at the helm, but is often mentioned for a potential move.

Pochettino jokingly suggested Levy was worried about losing him amid the talk about his future.

Daniel does not laugh. I know it gets boring but he maybe is worried, he is concerned. It is normal. It is not nice for Daniel to hear all that history of course, he told UK newspapers.

Heynckes a very good solution for Bayern – Low

Germany coach Joachim Low believes Bayern Munich will give themselves a very good solution should they re-hire Jupp Heynckes as Carlo Ancelotti s successor until the end of the season.

Heynckes is expected to be appointed as Bayern coach for a fourth time this week after Ancelotti was sacked at the end of September following a 3-0 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

Ancelotti was reported to have lost the support of several key members of the Bayern dressing room before his dismissal, with speculation suggesting his training methods left a lot to be desired.

Heynckes confirmed on Thursday that Bayern have approached him and that he was considering their offer.

Should he accept, Low believes Bayern have made a good choice.

Lukaku demands ´real action´ after being racially abused by Juventus fans

Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has called for action from Serie A officials after allegedly being targeted by racist chants from Juventus fans following his equaliser at the Allianz Stadium.

The Belgium international netted a penalty in the fifth minute of stoppage time to earn Inter a 1-1 draw in Tuesday s Coppa Italia semi-final first leg, before using his finger to shush the home fans.

Referee Davide Massa booked Lukaku for the celebration and showed the goalscorer a second yellow card following a heated aftermath that spilled over past full-time, leading to Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado and Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic also seeing red.

Lukaku pointed to his previous experiences of racism in Italy as he responded to the events with an Instagram post.

Prediction: Liverpool vs Brighton and Hove Albion

Best odds: 10/11

Bookmaker:

In light of Xabi Alonso confirming his decision not to leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season, Liverpool are reportedly considering Roberto De Zerbi as a candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout, and the prospect of the Italian moving there from Brighton and Hove Albion adds intrigue to the Premier League clash between the two teams on Sunday.

A win would take Liverpool back to the top of the table, if only for a few hours as title rivals Manchester City and Arsenal face each other shortly afterwards. Every point out for grabs is crucial for Brighton too as they fight to make back-to-back appearances in Europe.

Conte: Inter more ready to win Serie A as Nerazzurri close in on Scudetto

Antonio Conte said Inter are ready to claim silverware this season after moving further clear atop the Serie A summit.

Romelu Lukaku scored the only goal of the game as high-flying Inter edged Bologna 1-0 on Saturday to open up an eight-point lead.

Inter, who last won the Scudetto in 2010, have claimed nine consecutive league victories for the first time since 2007 to be clear of city rivals Milan with a match in hand.

Conte s Inter came close to hoisting a trophy aloft last season, beaten by Sevilla in the Europa League final, but the former Italy boss feels the Nerazzurri are better equipped for glory in 2020-21.

Inevitably, as we get closer to the finish line, every victory weighs more and more, Conte told Sky Sport Italia.

Kaiserslauten 0-1 Bayer Leverkusen: Talking points as 10-men Werkself show their quality again to complete domestic double

On Saturday evening at the Olimpiastadion in Berlin, Bayer Leverkusen bounced back from their Europa League disappointment to land the domestic double by defeating Kaiserslautern in the DFB-Pokal final.

The only goal of the game was the work of Granit Xhaka, an accurate shot from outside the box in the 17th minute. Despite going a man down in the 44th minute when Odilon Kossounou picked up a second yellow card, the difference in quality between the two sides was enough to prevent the Bundesliga 2 team from making a significant effort to get back to level terms.

Football transfer rumours: Bayern to rival Barcelona for Max Aarons?

With Chelsea’s porous defence perpetually under the microscope, it might be better for a Blues defender to be out of their team than in it. Perhaps that’s what Antonio Rüdiger reckons anyway, having been left out of Frank Lampard’s team for their opening three Premier League matches and having reaped the rewards in being instantly propelled on to the radar of other clubs who might give him a game. Tottenham are the latest suitors, according to our old chums “Sky Sources”, who add that he’d be unlikely to be allowed to leave on loan so Spurs might have to pony up for a permanent deal.
